Flu Prevention Advice

Even though we are hearing and reading daily about the spread of swine flu, everything I read and hear is that it is and will be a mild illness. Most cases will resolve with no medical needed whatsoever. So, I implore you to stay calm and don't read the newspapers, especially those with fear-mongering headlines. Realize that in the past, loudly proclaimed epidemics - swine flu and bird flu most notably - have never materialized. But let's err on the side of caution and take extra precaution and here are some ideas for you.

- Make sure you are drinking your 64 oz. of water per day. Dehydration just begs for bugs to take up residence in your body. In fact, dehydration is a primary factor in the production of disease all over the body. Dehydration produces free radicals in the body and water is the greatest free radical remover. Coffee is not water. Tea is not water. Coke is not water. Yes, they are all LIQUIDS, but they will only serve to dehydrate you.

- Keep the sugar out of your mouth. Sugar kills WBC's for up to 4 hours.

- Take your Min-Tran. It has some iodine in it which kills bugs and nourishes your thyroid gland. Keep up with your good oils. Probiotics are very good as well, as most of your immune system (80%) resides in your digestive system and adding good bugs will enhance your gut health.

- Get some Celtic Sea Salt - the grey, chunky kind - and eat a couple of chunks every day. Your adrenal gland which is a big part of your immune system will love you for it.

- Make sure you have optimum vitamin D levels. This is one of the absolute best strategies for avoiding infections of all kinds. Dr. Mercola of www.mercola.com, feels that "vitamin D deficiency is likely the TRUE culprit behind the seasonality of the flu - not the flu virus itself." A lab reading of over 60 is therapeutic and should go a long way in protecting you from the flu. Please get this blood work done now so we can start raising your D levels if we need to.

- Get in the sun every day for 30 minutes. You might as well be walking while getting your sun as exercise will increase your circulation and blood flow which means that the components of your immune system are also better circulated.

- Wash your hands a lot. And train yourself to keep your hands out of your orifices.

- Eat garlic regularly as it works like a broad-spectrum antibiotic.

- Get enough rest. Now is the time to handle your insomnia and bad sleep patterns.

- Stay away from hospitals, especially in the flu season as hospitals are prime breeding grounds for infections of any kind. I got the worst case of viral bronchitis last March after visiting a patient in the hospital.

- For every one of all ages: Start prevention now with your Teflon Mix, plus a couple of other products I am recommending. Teflon Mix consists of Calcium Lactate and Cataplex ACP, 4 of each every day. Add to this Sy-Immune at 1 per day and maybe a couple of Colostrums (Vitamin Cottage). There is also astragalus and the mushroom extracts.

- Especially for adults: For extra protection, I am recommending Dr. Craig's Immune Tonic. It consists of pharmaceutical grade Echinacea, Licorice and Gingko from Medi-Herb in Australia. I mix it up and sell it so you don't have to buy all three bottles - it's pricy - unless you want to. Take at least a tablespoon of the Immune Tonic per day in water or neat. It makes quite the statement, which is another way of saying that it is quite strong but the minute you taste it, you will know that it is good for you.

- If you have done all of your prevention stuff yet you seem to be coming down with a cold or flu, then I would recommend at first symptom, lots of Gan Mao Ling. Then if it seems to be taking hold, great gobs of Congaplex, Phytogen, Olive Leaf and Thymex until it turns around. Plus read my Cold and Flu Advice under the Handouts section.

- Please contact me about my recommendations for children and the flu.

- Vaccinations: I'm not having one. But after reading everything and listening to everyone, you really need to make up your own mind about what to do. Figure out what makes you more comfortable and do that: If you are more afraid of the flu than the shot, then get the shot. If you are more afraid of the shot than the flu, well, don't get the shot. Dr. Mercola says that "vaccines, when available, will likely be ineffective and may lead to crippling paralysis like Guilllain-Barre syndrome just as it did in the 70's." No thanks.

Lastly, you are safer if you reside in the higher vibratory fields. Remind yourself every day to live in joy, appreciation and gratitude.
